Duncan N. Byam
Consultant
Born in the United Kingdom but has spent most of his life in Trinidad and Tobago. Educated at Trinity Junior School and Queens Royal College. Worked at Republic Bank before doing law at the University of the West Indies and the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Began his career with the State as a member of the Civil Law Department, with the Chief State Solicitor’s Department, as an instructing attorney, from 1991 to 2002, and with the Solicitor General’s Department, as an advocate, from 2002 until his retirement in 2021, as a Deputy Solicitor General. A large part of his experience has been in Public Law, in judicial review and Constitutional matters, but he also dealt with many private law cases, particularly contract and tort, interpleader matters for the Marshal of the Supreme Court and compulsory acquisition matters.
